Horse News
PA Dept of Agriculture requires any rabies inoculations to be done by a licensed veterinarian in order to be valid. All horse and ponies over six months of age entered in 4-H shows or events must be inoculated for rabies at least 30 days prior to the event if this is the animal's initial inoculation. All horses must have current rabies vaccination and re-vaccination is required annually.
A copy of negative EIA status must be shown when you enter, bring a copy to the entry booth for all open shows. Leave a copy of the rabies inoculation at the entry booth.

Helmet Safety:
In 4-H sponsored horse shows and activities, all participants 18 years of age or younger and all 4-H members regardless of age are required to wear ASTM/SEI approved protective headgear intended for equestrian use while riding or driving anywhere on the competition or activity grounds. A copy of the entire 4-H Protective Headgear Rule is available from the Montgomery County Cooperative Extension; 610-489-4315.
